Bible Discovery Groups - We have Bible Discovery Groups for each age. You can read more about what a Bible Discovery Group is and how it functions here.

Next Steps

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He has always existed and always will.

Even before He created the world, He made a plan with the Father and the Holy Ghost to come down to this world to save mankind from a sin problem that He knew we would experience.

~2,000 years ago, the Son of God came down to this earth in the person of Jesus (which means Savior). He was born of a virgin (so that He wouldn't be "under sin" and lived for 33 years without ever sinning. When His time had come to "do the will of the Father" (ie. die a sinners death so our sin price could be paid) He was delivered up by his very own people (the Jews) who wanted to kill Him because He claimed that He was God and the only way to the Father was through Him. He lived a real life, He died a real death, He was buried in a real tomb, and then rose from the grave 3 days later...just like He told them He would and just like the prophets predicted He would for thousands of years.

Why did He do this? Why was it necessary? Because if He hadn't, you and I wouldn't have a chance to experience a life with the Father. That life can only be experienced if sin no longer separates us from the Father (God is sinless and can't be joined with a sinful person). Because we have sinned, we no longer have access to a holy God. Sin, essentially, has separated us from God.

If Jesus died for the sins of the world (past, present, and future) does that mean that everyone is saved and has a relationship with Jesus and peace with the Father? He did die for your sins and He did pay the price that was satisfactory for your righteousness but that doesn't mean that you have received the gift of eternal life.

You can have that gift, eternal life with the Father in heaven, peace with God right now, and a real relationship with Jesus today. Here's how.

Admit to God that you are sinner and you can't fix your sin-problem.

Romans 3:9-10 - "...they are all under sin. As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one..."

Believe that Jesus is the Son of God and paid the price for your sin.

John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Hebrews 9:26 - "For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself."

Hebrews 3:19 - "So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief."

Romans 4:21-5:2 - "And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God."

Trust Him, alone, for your salvation.

Ephesians 2:8-9 - "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast."

Romans 3:20 - "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin."

Why do we baptize?

Baptism plays an important part in the life of the believer. It is the first step of obedience that Christ asks of us once we are saved. In the same way that a wedding ring does make you married, it is a symbol of your commitment to God. It is a statement to Him and the rest of the world that Jesus is Lord of your life. Baptism identifies the believer with the Godhead; identifies the believer with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection; is an act of obedience for the believer; and is a public testimony - the outward confession of an inward belief.

Matthew 28:19 - "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"

Colossians 2:11-12 - "In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead."

Acts 2:38 - "Then Peter said unto them, 'Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

How do we baptize?

Baptize is a transliterated word and comes from the Greek word baptizo. The word means completely immersed, dunked, or plunged. (Those would be the words found in the Bible had it been translated rather than transliterated.) Given the meaning of the word and every instance of believer's baptism in the Bible, we baptize by full immersion (all the way under the water). This gives the complete picture of our union with Christ. We are drawing a picture with our actions that we have been "buried with him by baptism and raised to walk in newness of life."

Acts 8:38 - "And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Phillip and the eunuch; and he baptized him."

When do we baptize?

Baptism in the life of a believer should happen as soon as possible once the believer has placed faith in Christ alone for salvation.

Acts 8:36-37 - "And as they went on their way, they came to a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Phillip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."

Membership in a church is important in the life of a believer. In the first church in Jerusalem, they "received his word, were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls." Elsewhere, the Bible describes the church as "the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth."

You may join our church one of these ways:

1. You can join by profession of faith in Christ and baptism.

2. You can join having been a member from a like-minded Baptist church and having been Scripturally baptized.

Discipleship was placed as a premium by our Lord Jesus Christ. He told us both, to make disciples and be disciples. Churches that are pleasing to God are not made up of church attenders but Christ followers. Discipleship is the way to be grounded in what you believe and to form friendships that will build you up and hold you accountable. Simply put, discipleship is the difference between hearing the Word of God and implementing the Word of God.

John 8:31 - "...If ye continue in my word, then are ye my discples indeed..."

How does this happen at Faith Baptist?

God loves you and has a purpose for your life. He wants you to experience the Person of Jesus everyday. This is the first step of glorifying God.

One-on-one and group discipleship with a seasoned believer is a tried and true pattern to build disciples. This is how Jesus did it! What would it look like to join the journey of discipleship with one of our pastors? Discipleship at Faith varies from walking through a book learning how to implement the foundational truths of the Bible into our everyday lives, walking through Bible passages and discovering truths together, and serving alongside the pastor in real-life ministry. The purpose of discipleship is to teach you how to use your God-given talents to find your God-given purpose.
